How to get cited in AI Overviews
1. Cover the sub-questions
For each important topic, map the related questions a user (and the AI) would ask, and answer them clearly on the page. Depth across the cluster beats a thin, single-keyword page.
2. Lead with direct answers
Put a concise, accurate answer right after a clear question-style heading. AI Overviews lift these direct answers — burying the answer three paragraphs down means it gets skipped.
3. Be a trusted source
AI Overviews favour sources with genuine expertise and authority (EEAT). Real author credentials, accurate content and a credible site all matter.
4. Use accurate structured data
FAQ, Article and Organization schema that matches your visible content helps Google understand and attribute your content. (Marking up content that isn’t on the page breaks the rules.)
5. Keep it fast and crawlable
If Google can’t crawl or render your page quickly, it can’t include you. Technical SEO and speed are prerequisites.
